OPTIZETTE

A Publication of the Niles Noon Optimist Club

Meetings every Tuesday at Noon

Riverfront Café on Front Street in downtown Niles, MI

¨ Zone 19 Michigan Regional District ¨

Editor: Liz Capron September 6, 2005

CALL TO ORDER: Past President, John Willis

INVOCATION & PLEDGE: Liz Capron

GUESTS: Lucille Arbanas (tiny Optimist family member), Charles Zanayed of Standard Federal Bank

CURIOUS THE MONKEY: Diane brought Curious and shared several cute sayings…"If man comes from apes, how come the rest of them haven’t turned" Someone also shared this, it takes 500 peanuts to make a 12 oz jar of peanut butter.

BRAGS: Brag time was spent on Triathlon which was a huge success. Early reports are that we have raised about $6500. Bob Rhynard heads up this committee and does an excellent job. Many optimists came to assist in the event. It takes a lot of effort. It was mentioned that several non Optimists help out, such has Karen Rhynard, Donna Middleton and Lorraine Armitage. Special mention was given to Pat Kelly who oversees and organizes about 200 Barron Lake helpers. D & D Tire has provided the flotation devices year upon year. Junior Optimists were there, as well as the band kids. They manned the tents and helped do whatever they were asked. The Optimists should be extremely proud of this event and EVERY optimist should make it a point to help, or at least come out and see what’s happening! Thank you to all Optimists and Volunteers who helped with this event.

Mike Listenberger bragged about the new club building project taking place right now. He also thanked his helpers; John W, Dave V, Michelle M, Rob M and Tom M. Please give Mike any possible prospects in the Cassopolis area.
